In the heart of the city, where the hum of traffic never sleeps and the rhythm of life is measured by deadlines and digital alerts, lived a woman named Nana Ama.
Every day, she raced the clock—meetings, messages, multitasking. Her phone buzzed before the sun rose and long after it set. People called her efficient, unstoppable. But inside, she felt like a river that had forgotten how to flow—just rushing, crashing, never resting.
One evening, Ama’s grandmother, Esi, visited from the village.
“Why do you walk like the wind is chasing you?” she asked, watching Nana Ama dart from room to room, phone in hand.
Nana Ama laughed. “There’s always so much to do.”
Esi smiled, then reached out and pulled out a small wooden stool.
“Sit,” she said gently. “Just sit. And listen.”
Nana Ama sat—reluctantly. At first, all she heard was noise: honking, construction and a podcast still playing in her earbuds. But Esi said nothing. She just sat beside her, still as a mountain.
Slowly, Ama began to notice things she hadn’t in years—the rustle of leaves, her own breath and the aching in her shoulders.
They sat for ten minutes. Then twenty. No phone. No talking.
Just stillness.
Afterward, she asked, “What was the point?”
Esi replied, “You’ve been running for so long, you’ve forgotten who you are when you stop.”
That night, she turned off her phone early. The next morning, she woke up before the alarm and sat quietly with her tea. No scrolling. No news. Just her breath, the warmth in her palms, and the sound of a new day beginning.
Each day, she carved out a few more minutes of stillness. At first, it felt like a luxury. Then, it became a necessity.
In the silence, she discovered something she hadn’t felt in years: peace.
Moral of the Story:
In a world obsessed with speed and productivity, we often lose touch with ourselves. But when we pause—even briefly—we reconnect with what truly matters. Stillness is not a weakness; it’s a return to wisdom, to presence, and to the quiet power within.
Have an amazing weekend, folks. Kindly share and leave a comment.
