DRESS UP

“Always leave the house looking your best, no matter where you are going”, a quote my roommate uses a lot dovetails into the idea that, first impression counts since no one has that much time to get to know the person behind the clothes at first glance.

Dressing up is an empowering tool, which wakes up the spirit of responsibility by leveling up, visually and emotionally, the aspect of being in a healthy relationship with the social power structure; meaning you feel embroiled because you are explicitly an active respectable member of society and all the history that is downloaded in it within the timeframe.

Growing up, dressing up was a concept that I really hated but nowadays I feel good and more confident when I dress sharp because it is as much about self respect just as it is about respect for others.

Dressing up is not always about impressing others but it is about having value for yourself, your position, the event you are attending and expressing a picturesque resume of what you are probably made of.

You are an ambassador of yourself, your family, tradition, religion, people, city, country etc. so dress like it with dignity, honor and intention.

In my opinion, dressing smart is impulse based, so when you start putting effort into stuff like this, it tends to be easier to apply that effort to other parts of your life because it is a behavior pattern of doing more than the bare minimum.

You do not have to always dress fancy, but wear your clothes with self-worth, and choose the appropriate clothes for the occasion.

I started dressing smart just about three years ago. There is a default respect and compliance the public shows and I would proffer that anyone who struggles with confidence should dress smart, and watch the world for a few weeks.

“People shouldn’t judge a book by its cover!” but they will because even the best mask you select reveals a part of your inner self.

On a lighter note and in a paradoxical tone, I end by saying that no one ever asks you for money or favors if they think you are worse off than them, judging by looks alone. Cheers.

Dressing is a way to tell the world who you are, with having to speak.
