NO OUCH, NO WOW!

Updated: Jul 26, 2024

Some physicians agree that the proverb “No pain, no gain” is improper for physical exercise contrary to the usual “shut up and train” slogan yelled by many fitness trainers. But by listening to both sides, you would realize that “good pain” and “bad pain” are just two sides of the same coin. However we can all agree that in the gym particularly the banner should read “no good pain, no gain”.

This write-up however, is about applying the slogan to life in general.

The key to enjoying hard work is to at first not enjoy it but force yourself to consistently do it until some results show and it becomes familiar and routine, at which point you can become more creative in that work because it is no longer a “get-in get-out” situation but rather a modus operandi you enjoy doing.

We all suffer in one way or the other from the chronic condition of procrastination where it feels like something is pushing you away from the work before you actually start doing it. However you end up doing it coupled with regrets of your own stalling with a new promise to start early the next time but it is what it is!

There is no benefit in doing the easiest things except regret which only eliminates focus on your journey. It is however important to remember to be kind to ourselves and not beat up yourself over what may seem like easy tasks. They may be easy but somebody has to do it. Striving for balance is indispensable.

My resolution is to change a single habit no matter how small or big but preferably small such that you do not have to burn all your willpower because actions have a domino effect. So by changing a small and singular habit you let yourself to do much greater things subconsciously without a knifelike effort.

If you go through life with the mindset of achieving success without any substantive efforts, you would not obtain anything valuable and should in case you by chance obtain anything valuable, you may not appreciate the essence of maintaining and improving it.

Polish till you shine because nothing is free. No risk no reward, no loyalty no love, no trust no friendship, no discipline no improvement, no imagination no opportunity, no investment no wealth, no courage no confidence, no ouch no wow! Cheers.
